CEO Statement of Support for the Women's Empowerment Principles
As business leaders around the world, we are committed to achieving equality between women and men.
- To create the most comprehensive talent pool;
- To increase the competitiveness of our companies;
- To fulfill our corporate responsibility and sustainability obligations;
- Create a model of behavior within our companies that reflects the kind of society we see worthy of our employees, citizens and families;
- Promote economic and social conditions that provide opportunities for women and men, girls and boys; and
- We declare our support to accelerate sustainable development in the countries where we operate.
We therefore welcome the Women's Empowerment Principles - Equality Means Business, developed and disseminated by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the UN Global Compact. These principles provide seven steps that business and other sectors should take to advance and empower women.
Providing equal opportunities for women and men is not only the right thing to do, it is an approach that has positive consequences for companies. Women's full participation in all aspects of society and in our businesses is a beneficial approach for companies. Sustainability and corporate responsibility concepts that address women's empowerment as a fundamental goal will bring great benefits to all of us. The seven steps of the Women's Empowerment Principles will help us to realize these goals
We encourage business leaders to join us and use these principles as a guide for our actions to empower women in our workplaces, industries and society. In our sustainability reporting efforts, we will take care to use gender-disaggregated data to communicate our progress to our stakeholders.
WE ARE WORKING TO BECOME A SUSTAINABLE BRAND...
We are working hand in hand for a more sustainable world.
Creating sustainable brands, supporting local economies and becoming carbon neutral are among our future plans.
We also continue our social responsibility efforts.
As a part of HIS Japan's "I'm In" project, which aims to support the whole world, we are happy and proud to have built a school from scratch in a village in Kenya.
In this project, HIS Turkey did our part and supported the classroom equipment of the school. Because we know that cooperation multiplies by hand in hand.
We calculate the flight miles of our corporate customers, report their carbon emissions and donate saplings for them.
We separate our internal waste. We also use battery waste bins.
We reduced the use of paper. In the short term, we plan to switch to digital business cards.
To reduce the use of plastic bottles, we distributed glass flasks to our employees and largely eliminated disposable cups.
